Human Trafficking Awareness (Project 527)

We held an event in the Chervonoarmis’k community in partnership with CNN’s Project Freedom and Peace Corps to end modern day slavery. Our session was two-fold: a seminar to teach and educate on Human Trafficking in Ukraine and the 527 Project, and an action component in which we hit the streets to educate the community at large. During our action component, we spoke to community citizens and gave them invaluable informational brochures and handouts. Our event was aimed to build awareness on Human Trafficking in Ukraine and also introduced 527. What is 527? It is The Counter-trafficking and Migrant Advice Hotline developed by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Ukraine. By calling the hotline, Ukrainians can get information about how to travel, work, study abroad safely and legally, find out legitimacy of foreign jobs, or seek help if victimized. This is a tremendously useful resource for Ukrainians, but not many people know about it. Our event was featured in Visti magazine! It was a great day!
